BR Standard Class 6 Clan 4-6-2 No. 72006 CLAN MACKENZIE stands at Abington station with a Carlisle to Glasgow Central stopping train on 27th July, 1963. [Ken Falconer]


BR Standard Class 6 4-6-2 No. 72006 CLAN MACKENZIE passes through the deep cutting on the approach to the summit to the south of Gleneagles with the 12.10pm Perth to London Euston train on 20th February, 1964. [K.M. Falconer]

BR Standard Class 6P5F Clan 4-6-2 No. 72008 CLAN MACLEOD passes the site of Kirkpatrick Station with train 1X42, a Manchester to Glasgow Central extra working, on 31st July, 1965. No. 72008 was allocated to Kingmoor Shed and was withdrawn from service on 16th April, 1966. [A.R. Thompson/ARPT]



72009 CLAN STEWART

BR Standard Class 6 Clan 4-6-2 No. 72009 CLAN STEWART departs from Carstairs Station on 1st August, 1964, with train 1S53, the 9.25am Crewe to Aberdeen train, which was one of the last daily scheduled steam-operated workings on the West Coast Main Line. Only ten BR Class 6 locomotives were built, with No. 72009 being one of five allocated to Kingmoor (Carlisle) Shed. This locomotive was built at BR Crewe Works in 1952 and was withdrawn after a pitifully short life in 1965. [K.M. Falconer]
